John's journey began with a deep admiration for the wolverine – a symbol of fierce tenacity in the wilderness. In 2012, while working as an engineer for Manitoba Hydro in the Gillam region of northern Manitoba, John's passion for trapping ignited. He fulfilled his dream of capturing wolverines, alongside other captivating species such as marten, lynx, and wolves. The Gillam area, renowned for its exceptional fur, became his training ground for understanding the balance of nature.

After dedicated years, John transitioned into retirement, but his commitment to nature's wonders remained unshaken. Now situated in the embrace of Lake of the Woods (LOTW), he continues his lifelong passion. Each day reflects his respect for the animals he traps, as he upholds humane and sustainable harvesting practices.
